Follow Redoubt Road (East then North) right through to join up with Regis Lane. Turn right into Shepherds Lane, and then straight onto Ormiston Rd.

Follow Ormiston Rd NE and it will merge into Sandstone Rd. At the next junction, turn right into Whitford Park Road; follow  this busy road  nearly 4kms, then turn right (S) into Brookby Rd, then left into Twilight Road for 1.5 kms, before  turning left into Kimptons Road.

Proceed NE down Kimptons Rd for 1.5 kms.  Just before the quarry, a metalled road leads away right. Follow it a few hundred metres to the start of Kimptons Track.

Extra Info: Te Araroa Auckland Trust is working to replace this 17 km section with a more direct route. Redoubt Road has good footpaths for much of its distance and is a great ridge lookout over Auckland. It crosses under the flight path into and out of Auckland International Airport and, though they're still fairly high, descending or ascending aircraft are a feature. The road was named for a military redoubt set up by the British during hostilities between Maori tribes and the British Crown in the 1860s. 

 Aside from Redoubt Road, this bypass is primarily a walk along road shoulders. Be careful.
