Description (North to South) |
A stile leads over the fence and across paddocks near the Kimpton's Roadend. The track then climbs steeply for a kilometre through pasture and pine forest to a height of 250 metres. Here there's wide views across the Wairoa Riverflats and beyond that the blue distances of the Hauraki Gulf and its eastern islands, through to the Coromandel Peninsula. The track then goes through a short stretch of regenerating native forest to join to the Clevedon Reserve Circuit. At present there's no sign indicating whether you go up hill or down at this junction, but Te Araroa's route turns right and climbs briefly uphill to a lookout platform, then continues along on a high-quality track to exit at the Clevedon Reserve and out to North Road. A short walk takes you into the Clevedon Township. |
