Maureen lives in Ōtautahi Christchurch and loves spending as much time as possible in the outdoors – on foot, bike or skis. You’ll often find her out in the Canterbury mountains or on Banks Peninsula. She has section walked most of Te Araroa’s Te Waipounamu South Island trail, with a few small gaps left to fill in. The day from Slaty Hut around the tops to Rintoul Hut in the Richmond Ranges remains one of her best tramping days ever.
Maureen’s first career was in the laboratory; then human resources/health and safety, and finally in general management. In 2019 she decided to focus on spending more time outside and on mahi aroha Board roles with organisations that align with her values.
Maureen is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and appreciates the value that good governance provides to organisations as they strive to deliver on their charitable aims and objects.
She is delighted to join the Board, given the Trust’s commitment to Te Araroa becoming a regenerative trail – in particular the commitment to biodiversity restoration, supporting mana whenua engagement, and enhancing the wellbeing of walkers and trail communities.
