Ngunguru to Mackeral Forest Bypass (Road) - OPEN
(North to South)
From the corner of Ngunguru Rd and Papaka Rd, walk W out of the village and continue on the road margin until you see Ngunguru Ford Rd on the SE side. This is approx 10.5km from Papaka Rd.
Ngunguru Rd is a very busy road linking Ngunguru to Whangarei - take a lot of care walking, stay as far off the edge as you can. Wear a hi-viz vest and do not use headphones.
Follow Ngunguru Ford Rd SE for 3km to the start of Mackerel Forest Track - which is where the sealed road turns into gravel road.
